Power Automate Essentials


Course Description

Power Automate is an online workflow service used to automate time-consuming business tasks and processes across apps and services. This course will give the confidence to select the right actions and logic for business workflows. Participants will learn how to navigate the Power Automate interface confidently, use templates, create workflows and triggers and how to use Artificial Intelligence to increase productivity.

Pre-requisites

Participants will be looking at optimising their existing business processes and designing new ones. The intended audience will have been using Microsoft 365 (Office) for some time. Basic SharePoint and HTML programming skills are helpful, but not essential.

Real World examples

Example One. Send an Email automatically. Explore the interface and show how to create different tasks, e.g. send a recurring email at a scheduled time. Example Two. Update an Excel Table in a SharePoint folder from a received email. Create a SharePoint site for test purposes, create an Excel workbook with a table in it, then use a filtered email trigger to update fields in the table with email information. Example Three. Save attachments from an email to a SharePoint folder Create a workflow that is triggered by an incoming email filter, use it to save multiple attachments to a SharePoint library. Example Four. Update a SharePoint List from the Body of a received Email Create a workflow that is triggered by an incoming email filter, take the fields in the body of the email and parse the data into fields, put these fields into a SharePoint List. Example Five: Update a SharePoint List based on an Excel Table Contents Create a workflow triggered by a change in an Excel workbook, use this trigger to update data records in a separate table in a master Excel workbook, insert or update records. Example Six: Update a Dashboard in Power BI using Power Automate Trigger Create a workflow that is triggered by an incoming email filter, use it to update the dataset in a published Power BI Dashboard, automatically refresh the data.
